Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro is an electronic flight bag (EFB) solution that includes the high quality terminal and enroute charting that Jeppesen is known for in an easy to access electronic workflow that facilitates crew resource management while minimizing the need for paper in the cockpit.

I'm studying approach plates for an upcoming check-ride. I hate the notes so I've got paper copies of the gov't charts and am tediously starting to add notations in the mins section on inop components, etc. Then I thought about Jepp and how they have everything nicely laid out. I went to their website and found they have a product called Flight Deck that runs on Apple iPADS.Does Flight Deck, with a subscription for the entire US of A set of charts costing a mere $300, replace Fore Flight at $149 for the Pro version?Anybody use Flight Deck and find it better than FF?Would anybody recommend FD this close to a check ride?I don't think you can get a FD subscription to just a region of the USA / seems to be all or nothing.Comments would be appreciated. There is an iPad app called Jeppesen Mobile FD and another one called Jeppesen Mobile TC. The FD app has more features than the TC app but I found the FD program to be buggy and not intuitive. Therefore I stick to the TC app which is just the charts.

I can't comment on the cost. The Jeppesen Flight Deck program installed in the airplane came with four licenses for computers, one of which I am using.I have not tried Foreflight stupid autocorrect so I can't compare the two programs. I prefer the Jepp charts to the NACO charts but much of that is because I've used Jepp forever. I use FD Pro at work and combined with Goodreader have every manual for our company.

Our IPads do not have GPS and guys were using external things like Bad Elf but the company had Jepp alter the software to take away that ability (they said Jepp did it because of the FAA and class of EFB ). I much prefer Jepp approach plates simply because I have used them for forty years. If I had a choice and I do in general aviation, I would use Foreflight with my Stratus 2S all the time. With the moving maps I have at work the only reason to have a GPS moving map on an IPad is for geo referenced taxi charts.

That is a big safety advantage. The company is getting new IPads next year with GPS and will have geo referenced charts. To answer your question and it not being a perfect world.I would learn NOS charts and use Foreflight with a Stratus.
